Da Vinci, The Surgical Robot
Urology

The Da Vinci, Surgical Robot.
- Patient anamnesis.
- Male 60s.
- Prostate Cancer.
- Operation: Prostectomy
- Skin Incision: without robot
- the same way as Preparation for Laproscopy.
- After all ports are ready, the devices are connected to the
arms of the robots.
- Two arms manipulated by the operator.
- One arm (not connected to the robot) is manipulated by an
assistant.(Left). A person in front of the monitor is a scrub nurse.
- The monior is acutually 3D, which is one the most important
advantages compared to the normal laparoscope.
- This operation is covered by insurance. Prostatectomy is one of
such operations. Robot uses are quite limited, still. Other
operations are some gynecology operations, which are also covered by
the insurance. It means that it was proved the robot use has a
better outcome than otherwise.
To be honest, it seemed very interesting. I would like to manipulate
the robot and make some operations.
This is the 2nd time to see Da Vinci, but the first time to observe
the robot using in a real operation.

The binocular system.
