2005/09/10(Sat) - 2005/09/15(Thu) の６日間、東京の オリンピックセンター で事前研修が行われました。参加している最中はとても長く感じた６日間でした。が、終ってしまえばあっという間でした。

毎日９時から２１時まで、ほぼビッシリ予定が埋まっています。その上、それぞ れの役割が決まって来ると、その集まりが自由時間で行われるため、自由時間 はあっという間になくなっていきます。その集まりが終ったあとも、遅くまで 飲んでいる人もいました。

This training reminds me of the freshman training in my company immediately after graduation. The atmosphere was almost exactly the same. Everybody has lots of expectations and is too much exited. I don't know that I've gotten along with this certain atmosphere. I am sure that foreign participants will change this one-country-oriented too much excited atomosphere at large, but we can re-create a new one as we did with our peace images in our lesson. It must be fun!

• Day1: 2005/09/10(Sat)



一同がついに集まる日。部屋でスーツに着替えたいため、早めに行ったが、部 屋には入れないとのこと。トイレで着替える羽目に。

第１７回のビデオを見た。３０分あまりだと思う。最後の下船の様子には感動 した。参加者はみなとても名残おしそうだった。私達も、あの船に乗るのだ。 とても楽しみだ。

このビデオを作るのが、プレス委員会。私は、その一員となった。昨年のプレ ス委員会の人が来てくれたので、尋ねたところ、あのビデオは某大学の編集機 器を使ったそうで、下船後丸１０日も費したそうだ。京都の学生で、その１０ 日間を学校に泊り込んだ人もいるという。

昨年は英語版は作れなかったが、今年は作るそうだ。たのしみだ。

夕食は立食パーティ。一発芸をグループでやるという流れになる。とても日本 的。最初は、みんな戸惑っていた様子だった。が、最後には、とても盛り上が り、良いアイスブレーカーとなった。

• Day2: 2005/09/11(Sun)



ディスカッションコースが発表された。私は、希望どおり国連となった。顔合 せ。日本青年の中では、あまり人気がないコースらしいが、逆に外国青年の人 気が高いという。どういうディスカッションが船上で行われるのか。楽しみ。

委員会活動決め。すでに述べたとおり、プレス委員となった。元もと、フリー ディスカッション委員になっていた。が、プレスが最後に残っており誰も希望 者がいなかったため、プレスも面白そうだなと、立候補した。

• Day3: 2005/09/12(Mon)



The English Day. In the morning, we have a Group Work, (but not in letter Group). This is the most interesting activity in the whole training for me. We are given one big paper, some origami papers and color pens.

The whole process was below.

1. Each group makes a peace image with given items.
2. Each group makes a presentation about the image to an adjacent group.
3. Switch the images each other group.
4. Each group DESTROYs the image.
5. Return the image to the original group.
6. Each group re-builds a peace image from the broken image.

First of all, oh, it's a boring work, I thought. But when the instructor said, "break it," I felt something. Our work was returned completely destroyed and our peace image was absolutely gone. There ware no space to draw an image anymore. I was despaired...

But one of our members proposed to make a big crane from the overwritten paper, like Origami. Actually, our peace image had had three small origami cranes attached on our peace image and seen as pigeons, the symbols of peace. They had been stampeded, though, when our work came back, We tried to build up three cranes called phoenix.

I have learned this. Once destroyed, it is difficult to fix up, or patch up. But it's a good way to re-create something in a completely different form. It's true in country, friend, man-woman relationship, I thought.

In the afternoon, we are divided into discussion courses. We are the UN group. The UN group builds up two smaller groups and discussed the given theme. I made a two-minute presentation like below in front of all 120 people. I got very nervous, but I did well, I think.

1. Theme: How Japanese youth can contribute to the UN activities.
2. Word definitions:
   • Youth: Over 18 year old feeling still young.
   • The UN activities: there are lots of them, so we picked up one, the UNV or UN Volunteer.
3. What abilities required to be a UN volunteer
   1. Open-mind and friendliness.
   2. Knowledge of the country you go to.
   3. A bit knowledge of the local language
   4. Enthusiasm to contribute to the local society
   5. Flexibility to the local culture
   6. Self-support in Economical point of view.
4. Conclusion: Everybody with these abilities can contribute to the UN as a UN Volunteer. So join the UNV.
• Day4: 2005/09/13(Tue)



グループ別リサーチ。我々のテーマは、ケニアの自然保護区についての調査。 自由が丘にあるケニア大使館を訪れ、資料を集めた。その後、図書館でも集 めた。そして、資料をまとめて発表。

研修中は、ずっとオリンピックセンターにいるため、外に出る機会はとても貴 重だった。自由が丘には始めて行った。ちょっと時間を作って、お茶をして帰っ て来た。お茶とはいっても、女の子が多いだけに、スウィーツ。甘かった。

• Day5: 2005/09/14(Wed)



最後の夕食。この日も立食だった。自主活動の発表があった。ダンスなど、見 て分かるところが盛り上がっていた。

• Day6: 2005/09/15(Thu)



最終日。研修の修了書を受け取り、解散。最後に D グループで、お茶を飲み、 帰路についた。

ディスカッションコースの講義は、国連、教育、経済が行われたがいずれもと ても面白そうな講師陣だった。

近畿ブロックで行う活動には、ナショナルプレゼンテーションの現代、自主活 動の天神まつりがある。これから何度か、乗船前に集まって活動がなされそう だ。
