Complaint about the way of Anatomy and Histology Midterm Test

(April 2014)

From the 2nd Semester we have Anatomy and Histology which are the hardest subjects. We need to take mid-term exams three times in a semester. I felt the way of testing is wrong so I formally complained.

  • Written form of the complaint to Dr. Kovacs, the course director(pdf)
  • I think that the way of anatomy test is not good and should be changed; especially the way slides are automatically changed and we felt rushed and pushed around. Because that is how we make mistakes more easily. Additionally there are some questions I could have answered right only if I had had a bit more time. Dr. Horvath said enough time is given for each question, but I felt not so for some questions. Moreover everyone has his/her own pace and, I think, that should be respected. As a better way of testing I suggest the normal way of written test with NO automatically switching slides. I think that is how our grade will be improved 10-20% because of less easy mistakes.

  • Signature Form(pdf)
  • There are two choices for your signature;

    1. You support the idea that the way of Anatomy&Histology Midterm2 is not good and should be changed into the normal written exam with NO automatically changing slides.
    2. Thus You ask for a normal written test with no automatically changing slides for the coming mid-term3, if possible.

    From Facebook(the group of 1st year students of English Program):

    Thank you for your "like"s! I found many people agree with me and there could be (much) more people feeling the same!

    As I said before, my problem now is that Dr. Kovacs pointed out I am the only one who complained about this. I need an evidence that the idea is supported by others(as many as possible), then I can tell her that her point-out is not true and I(we) can go further to make this change happen. As an evidence, can I possibly collect your signature, for example? What would you say?

    I am aiming for, say, 30 names for a first trial since I think they can not ignore the number of people's opinion. In that case who can help me collect signatures? If you support the idea, please spread the words!

    Maybe we have to suffer this semester as Justin indicates, but maybe not from the next semester and further on. And we can save future students too.
