Summary: Our bad test results are not only because we are lazy, obviously their teaching is bad. I don't understand the school, and even ministry of education in Hungary, leave this inefficiency without taking any measures. I sometimes feel they even intentionally fail/downgrade us.
From the 2nd Semester we have Anatomy and Histology which are the hardest subjects. These subjects are directed by Dept of Anatomy. I think their Management of these subjects is strange and wrong. Some teachers have their mean atomospheres. I feel something is wrong in the department itself.Mid-term uses automatically change slies, which change slides, i.e, every 3 minutes. This way of testing is wrong because of several reasons. 1) we feel pushed and "hurry, hurry, slide will change very soon.", 2) you can not check you answers since slides never go back. That is how we make mistakes more easily, which would downgrade our grade. I formerly complained about it in vain, the Department rejected my request. But I still think the way of testing is wrong and should be changed to normal paper-type testing. Then we can take exam more calmly and we can review our answers on our own needs. The detail is here(PDF, my formal complaint).
They opens the mid-term exam results to the whole university, with names. In other subjects exam results are usually opened personaly. other times with students codes which are numbers and used not so often thus can not be tracked down to an individual.
Maybe they would like to save time for inputing students' results one by one. But I don't think it is a good way. If they are students' oriented, this does not happen. I think this happens only in their subjects only.
Note: I have heard that it sometimes happens in another country such as Portgul. It may be common in EU countries. But I believe the cases decreasing in modern countries.
If you look at the results carefully. Results are really bad. These are summary of three mid-terms. The right-most column is the mid-term grade. Note: we have oral exams in exam period, so these are not final ones.
Summary of Results: # of students > 300. Anatomy Average 49.5% Hisology Average 46.1% Passing Grade: 2 > 52% Meaning more than half(50%) students failed respectively. (Assumption: Normally Distributed. Test score is usually normally distributed.)
This bad results are not only because students are lazy but they are also because their teaching is bad. Especially lectures are horrible. Quality depends on teachers; some teachers are good. But generally something is wrong with their teaching, which is indicated by our grades... I almost can not believe that this bad grades are let go and no measures are taken...
Their web system oriented learning is also horrible. They simply should use Coospace. (Coospace is education supporting system for all subjects.)
This is the worst. Histology includes Embryology. I understand only little from their lectures.
For example, when compare our lectures with these lectures, I found how they are bad at teaching. Obviously some measure should be taken.
These lectures are amazing!
Practice: Histology Practice is very inefficient. Their sketchbook-style note is almost useless to study. But study real tissues with microsopes in practice is good.
