Student Housing Service

Summary: They are very kind and helpful with their Hungarean language but they are not so professional. They can help you find your good apartment but it takes more time than necessary.

They are very kind and they can help you very much. They showed me nine apartments as a whole. They arranged the apartment-seeing tour, talked with landlords for appointments before we go to see apartments. They took me to each apartment sometimes by foot othertimes by car and talked to the landlord in Hungarean and sometimes negotiated the rent for me. I really appreciated them for that.

My cozy apartment which was found via Student-Housing Service

However I did not need to see some of them in the first place. Let me explain. I found a good apartment for me in the first day; that was the 3rd one we visited. But When I went to the student-housing the next day for making contract, they said it was already taken by somebody. OK, sometimes that happend especially it was a high season for rental apartment because it was time for graduation and new students. It does not end here of course. So We went to the other apartments on the next day. I had a good one again, but it was found out that the rent was changed +10,000 fts, which means exceeding my badgets. Then next day we went to the next round but again this time the heating system was not as described on the web; separate meter on the web, but it was actually central heating(I was looking for a separate meter), and so on. As a result I did not need to see four out of nine apartments... I am sorry but it should be called unprofessional. They wasted our time. After I found that they were not so professional I took an initiative; for example, I asked them to contact the landlord and check everything was updated on the web, for instance, rent and heating system before we are going to see the apartment.

My suggestion to them is just keep the Database updated. Then everything is more efficient; and people do not need to waste their time.

But some comment should be added to this. They don't charge us for their service. Some staff are students; part timers and not trained well yet.

Anyway I found a good one for me finally. They are very kind and they can understand very well when you said what your needs are.

Note: We were taking the intense pre-med summer course when we were looking for an apartment. The pre-med course starts at 8AM and lasts till 16:00 every weekday. We were so busy and so tired after the classes. Thus I can not stand this waste of time thing... Maybe if you have time and you are not so tired, you may think these were nothing to you. Or it might be just a cultural thing. We Japanese are really well organizing, I think, as well organizing as German in Europe.
