Exam Period

One semester lasts 6 month, which is separated into two periods; One is instruction period and Another is exam period. We have many lectures, seminars, practices in a instruction period which is for 14 weeks. We are busy in instruction period since we have many classes.

Then Exam period follows. No breaks between instruction period and exam period. Exam period continues for 7 weeks. We have exams in a exam period, as its name says. There is amazingly no classes in exam period. You can study the way you like. We are bound to classes in instruction periods, while we are totally free in exam period. Exams in a exam period is only for mandatory courses and the exams of such courses are usually tough. You have to pass all the exams during the time. Exams for elective subjects are done in a instruction period.

Surprizingly enough, exam in exam period is Basically done orally, and NOT IN A WRITTEN FORM. There are some exceptions though.

You can three chances to take exam for a subject; A, B, C chances. If you fail three times, your grade will be marked as a "fail". They are oral exams, the system is like this; you have to reserve a seat for a day and take the exam, Of course, you can choose any day for your exam and if you would like to change the day you can (you found you are not ready yet etc).

Oral Exams are really tough. But they are trying their best to be fair enough. They give you a "fail" strictly and with no mercy; like "fail" is "fail", no less no more.

Thus Students study hard. Their faces are changed. Especially the day before a oral exam, sometimes it is very easy to say that his/her exam is approaching by seeing their face, especially they are facing the tough one like biology, anatomy. And also after such exams, their faces will be back to their normal look. That obvious ^_^

Library is open from 8 to 21:30 in instruction period but it is open till 24:00 in exam period; this is also a good evidence of how these oral exams are tough.
