Preparation to go to University of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine

  1. Accomodation: Dormitory
  2. Your accomodation information will be arrived via email. I was offered a dorm, because I applied for it.

Note: it turned out that not everybody is offered with a room. For example, it was turened out, when we visit Helsinki and start the program, that two German were not offered. Two students, including me, from Hungary were offered. (This Hungarian lady stayed for a semester, by repeating a year.)

  3. Information Letter via email.

They will send official information letter now and then, which is helpful. For example, when is welcome day with a big orientaiton and medical student orientation day, some tips about life in Helsinki city.

How expensive the city is, especially accomodations.

  4. Tutors

The university, Univ of Helsinki, assigned two tutors to help us with their new campus. They are really nice people and helpful. for example, I had a trouble when I need to find an accomodation before our dormitory contract begins. Generally, Helsinki accomodation is super-expensive, as previous information letter mentioned. I did not take it seriously and I needed to pay 35 euro for a dormitory BED(not a room) per night, which was cheepest. It is usually less than 10 euro in Budapest, if you try to find a cheep hostel. A Tutor helped me regarding this issue.
