Competition by Point System

Univ of Helsinki, Faculty of Medicine, Erasmus

There is a point system. You have to get 100+ points in order to obtain a recommendation in case of Semmelweis University.

  1. Grades: GPA
  2. The most important part is your grades, more precesely GPAs. it will be multiplied by 20. eg. if you get 4.5, then you get 90 points already.

  3. Langauges
  4. If you speak and write good english with C2 level, you get 10 points. You need a certificate for your language level, self-declaration is not enough. Now you have 100 points. This is applied for any other foreign languages, too. eg. if you speak German, you got another 10 points.

  5. Competitions
  6. There are so-called competitions in several subjects in Hungarian Univerisities. You will get points if you are the top 3 students.

  7. Research
  8. your research activies are also points.

  9. Others
  10. Other points are given by students conucil activities, sports activities. and so on.

As you see above, the most important is your GPA, since it will be multiplied by 20. My GPA was >4.7 + English 10Pt >= 100. It is already eligible.

However the real competitions come from here. Around 100 points there are so many students. 1 point difference sometimes matters to choose a good university.

The Top students get 180 points. I wonder how it is possible. They choose any schools from the list. Generally developped countries are selected first.
