Mallet Finger: extensor digitalis tendon rupture at DIP

Extensor Digitalis Tendon Rupture at DIP.
note: DIP droped and can not be extended.
  1. Patient anamnesis.
    1. female 40s.
    2. Hit the finger on a table.
  2. Mechanism of injury.
    1. Sudden flexion of the finger (by hitting tip of the finger) causes rupture of the tendon.
    2. X ray did not show any bone comes off at the attachment.
  3. Treatment
    1. external fixation for 4 weeks.
    2. With hyperextended position.
    3. It will heal.
    4. But my tutor mentioned it does not heal completely.
